Task Identification

Task Identification is an objective process that uses statistically robust data to identify what tasks are most important to your site visitors.

How does it work?

Customer Carewords involves drawing up a list of the tasks that your customers come to your website to complete, and then getting them to quickly vote on this list.

The process, usually taking 10-12 weeks, consists of the following steps

  1. Task Definition. We sit with you and your internal stakeholders to develop a 'long-list' of up to 400 tasks that your site visitors might want to complete. We then collaborate with you to reduce this to 100 of the most important
  2. Polling. Your customers are asked to quickly scan the list, and then choose the five most important tasks to them. They must give a score of 5 to the task that is most important to them, 4 to the next most important task, and so on
  3. Analysis. We analyse the results and present specific recommendations that will make your site more customer centric. You'll have all you need to create effective navigation, compelling content and clear calls to action

According to traditional polling theory, Customer Carewords shouldn't work: A list of 100 tasks is simply too much and people will just choose randomly. This is not our experience. Over 60,000 people have voted in more than 90 task surveys in six languages, and the results are statistically robust. In fact, the longer list has a very important function.
